121-Farmer’s Market Is A G0!

We are super excited that the farmer’s markets are going forward this season.

Yes, things will look a bit different, but you will be able to get fresh local produce. Our season begins on May 16, 2002 in Charleston at the 18th Street Farmer’s Market and we will add Casey’s Market Thyme as soon as it opens.

As a warm up to market season and to test out some of our new online ordering system, we had a curbside pickup day on the Farm May 2, 2020. Everything went very smoothly and we plan to carry over our lessons to the off-site markets.

To speed up the drive through market process, we encourage all of our customers to order ahead online. We will pack your order and be ready to place it in your trunk or backseat at the market. You can also make selections at the market but online order (and payment) will make everything run more efficiently.

Expect a learning curve as we all work together, but we will find a way to get fresh, local products to you. To place an order, visit our online store or click the picture below:

We will try to have Saturday’s menu available on Mondays, but check back often as we may add more items as produce ripens.

We sincerely appreciate your business.

Until next time….

Donna, Julia and the Felines

P.S. Watch for updates on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram also.

120-Honeybees and Market Updates

Spring is here and we are moving toward Farmer’s Market season. This will be a different experience this year, but it will happen!

The 18th Street Farmer’s Market will begin in Charleston, IL on May 16, 2020 and we’ll be there. We are planning now for expanding our online ordering, plus how we will process and package orders. Soon, we will have additional information about Market Thyme in Casey.

This episode also gives an update on our apiary, adding two more hives of honeybees from packages.

If you are interested in ordering from our online Mercantile, you can have our non-food items shipped anywhere in the U.S. Food is only available when we are open here at the Farm (next time is May 2, 2020) and at Farmer’s Markets.

Be sure to follow us on social media to get frequent updates: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Until next time…

119-Moving Forward On The Farm

Even in the time of staying at home to combat the Coronavirus, we are finding ways to move forward.

On this episode we discuss our most recent opening, how we arranged a contact free pick up system and the overwhelming response by our customers. A huge shout out and thank you to all of you!

We will continue this system whenever we are open for as long as needed.

For you Farmer’s Market shoppers, planning is underway for both the 18th Street Farmer’s Market and Casey Market Thyme. Stay tuned for more details on both.

Don’t forget to follow us on social media: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for almost daily information on Farm activities.

You can always shop our online Mercantile. Our non food items can be mailed or arrangements made for pick up. The next opening for scones and produce will be on May 2, 2020. More to come.

Until next time….

Get Your Scones and Pies!

Did you know we only bake to order for the Farm Fresh Mercantile?

In Illinois there are several rules and regulations that govern selling food. This ranges from commercial food processing to restaurant kitchens to food trucks all the way down to cottage food permits and home based operations.

Five Feline Farm operates under the last two and there are some slight differences.

Our cottage food permit allows us to make certain baked goods, jams and jellies to sell at Farmer’s Markets. We do this from May through September at both the 18th Street Farmer’s Market in Charleston and Market Thyme in Casey.

Through the winter months we have our on farm store, the Farm Fresh Mercantile. Here we operate under our Home Based permit. This allows us to make and sell baked items through pre-order only; plus a few other items where local farm ingredients are featured in the product. (Think blackberry jam.)

What does this mean for you?

In order to get our famous scones or individual sized mini-pies, you must order in advance. We want to get the word out so you can place your orders and not be disappointed when you arrive.

Here is what we are offering on October 12, 2019. Orders must be received by October 10, 2019.

You can place your order through email, social media or phone. We will have your scones and pies ready for pick up between 9:00 and 3:00 on the 12th.

But don’t just come to pick up an order. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy music by Doty and Dexter. Visit with friends. Shop other great vendors like Four Little Pumpkins, Hazel Anne Farm and others.

It’s all happening at Farm Fest.

October 12, 2019 from 9:00AM – 3:00PM.

If you just can’t make it to the Farm, you can still shop for other Five Feline Farm merchandise in our online Mercantile.
